The Final Four is finally upon us and it is gearing up to be one for the ages. We have the overall number one, the “most complete team”, the Cinderella with pedigree and the preseason number one all together at least. Next up is the Florida Gators.
The Basics:
The tournament's overall number one seed and winner of 30 straight games, Florida is revved up and gunning for a National Championship. Billy Donovan is single-handedly making Florida a basketball school and doing it in grand style. The combination of nastiness and defense has brought the Gators to the Final Four and maybe further.
Strengths:
Again, Billy Donovan has been here before and has the experience to push his teams further and further each game. Florida is no stranger to National Championships with their back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007. This Florida team happens to be the best defense in the nation and ranks number one in defensive efficiency,
Weakness:
The Gators got hit with some suspensions early on in the season and when they lost Scottie Wilbekin they lost to the UConn Huskies. Other than that the Gators have been flawless this past season. They are disappointing in their free throw shooting 66.8 percent from the charity strike. That number is good for 279th in the nation
UConn beat this Gator team the last time they played, but that feels like years ago. This is a different Gator team and thats a different UConn team. The stage is set for an amazing rematch and one that will most definitely feel like a National Championship matchup.
