Final Four 2014: Kentucky proves preseason No. 1 ranking; Can they top Wisconsin? [GIFS]

The Final Four is finally upon us and it is gearing up to be one for the ages. We have the overall number one, the “most complete team”, the Cinderella with pedigree and the preseason number one all together. Starting with the Wildcats of Kentucky.

The Basics:
The preseason No.1 team has been the story of the tournament. The Wildcats have stormed into the Final Four after a very disappointing regular season. Finishing 28-10 and the No. 8 seed in Midwest Region, the Wildcats have been through the worst of any Final Four team. They had to go through Wichita State, Louisville and Michigan in the region of death and are now a dangerous team because of their tournament experience.

Strengths:
The have John Calipari so they have a shot in any game with the coaching they have. He is the best in the business at getting his team ready for game day and it shows. Kentucky also happens to be the best in the country at offensive rebounding with their 13.8 offensive boards per game.

Weakness:
A double edged sword is Kentucky’s youth. They have mostly freshmen year in and year out with little veteran leadership. They never have the same squad from year to year and only two players from last years NIT team, which also happened to be the preseason No. 3. They also commit more turnovers than they force and thats a stat that can catch up with you in a heartbeat.

The Wildcats will take on the Arizona Wildcats in the Final Four and it will be their best opponent yet. If you had Kentucky in the Final Four in the region of death then I commend you, but do you have them in the championship game?
