Aaron Rodgers insists "two of three" commentators entrusted with talking about Johnny Manziel's Thursday Pro Day workout shouldn't be taken seriously by the time NFL judgement day comes.
As the NFL Draft nears, Rodgers is speaking more and more in support of the former Texas A&M, Heisman Trophy winning quarterback he has previously insisted he immensely respects based on his unapologetic nature.
Aaron Rodgers big Johnny Manziel fan
Rodgers recently told Jim Rome of Manziel on his Showtime-aired talk show that he warms to Manziel based on the way he handled all his off-the-field adversities and "didn't apologize."
He later added "I like Johnny Football. I like that he didn't apologize for what happened. He was a 20-year-old kid who was enjoying life. I think the way he plays on the field speaks for itself. He makes a lot of plays happen. We've seen in this league --Russell [Wilson], Colin] Kaepernick and Cam [Newton] and Andrew [Luck] being able to run around a little bit -- you have to be able to make plays if the pocket breaks down, unless you're a [Tom] Brady or a [Peyton] Manning.
Manziel held his Pro Day at A&M with the question of who will emerge as the league's top draft selection still clearly hanging in the balance.
"I like Johnny, his confidence, Rodgers told Rome. "As a quarterback, it's one of the most important things you can have. You need to be mentally tough, physically tough. I think he is both of those."
