Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson will reportedly be traded or released before the start of the NFL season. The current teams rumored to be involved in any potential deal for Jackson are the Jets, Patriots, 49ers and Seahawks.
NBA Owner Believes NFL Gone in 10 years?
I believe however that the the top teams to land Jackson based on rumors, need and fit are the Oakland Raiders and New York Jets. Jackson is a physical specimen that has a specific skill set that makes hims dangerous piece in the passing game. The Raiders and Jets just signed James Jones and Eric Decker respectively and could benefit from the deep threat and protection Jackson offers. The Eagles are rumored to be looking for a third round pick for the receiver which isn't a steep price for what Jackson brings to the table.
Matt Schaub Gives Oakland Needed Upgrade
Oakland Raiders: Matching Jackson with James Jones and Matt Schaub would be as good a arial punch as the Raiders have had since their Super Bowl run in 2002. Schaub is a serviceable band-aid at quarterback and will play while grooming the next guy in Oakland, but we have seen Schaub play with a deep threat before. This would be as good a receiver corps that Schaub has ever had considering Houston could never find him a reliable No. 2 receiver.
Eric Ebron Slides to New York Jets? Mock Draft 2.0
New York Jets: For Eric Decker, a vertical threat would open up the intermediate routes and help him thrive. Jackson would remove the safety help over the top and give Decker the padding that Demaryius Thomas gave him in Denver. The development of Geno Smith could skyrocket if he has two new toys to play with. If the Jets draft Eric Ebron from UNC, then they would have three legitimate threats. The Eagles have been rumored to have offered the Jets Jackson for a third round pick, plus a conditional 2015 choice. If Jackson is released look for the Jets to swoop in and grab him immediately
With Jackson only being 27-years old can you pick a third round pick that is guaranteed to be better than him today? Take the gamble Jets, Raiders.
