Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said Derrick Rose could be healthy enough to get in "a couple practices before the end of the season" and also claimed he wants Rose play for Team USA at the FIBA World Cup this summer.

"Oh absolutely, if he's healthy and he's cleared," Thibodeau told the Chicago Tribune of the 2011 league MVP. "I thought it was a great experience for him before. I know he'd like to do it."

The last time he competed for USA Basketball, Rose went on to become the youngest MVP in league history. The 25-year-old All-Star guard has indicated he hopes to use this summer's mini-camp as a springboard to next season and coming off the second straight season during which he has suffered a year-ending knee injury.

As one of the team's assistants, Thibodeau marvels at the job Team USA does in piecing together its roster. "They've done an unbelievable job of organizing it," he told The Tribune. "By having a pool, there are a number of guys who are always under consideration. You're always in the pool. It's good for a lot of guys to get the experience."

Thibodeau later added of Rose's personal Team USA experience "I think there has been great benefits from it. I thought that had a lot to do with him having the great year in the MVP year."
