The New Knicks are hopeful they might have a chance at landing LeBron James once he can become a free-agent this summer now that they have Phil Jackson in the fold.

The New York Daily News reports Knicks chairman James Dolan believes in order for the franchise to be able to land superstar players the franchise needs a closer the status of Jackson, the winner of 11 titles as a head coach and two as a player.

The Knicks are expected to formally introduce Jackson as president of basketball operations, a post that apparently gives his complete reign over all basketball decisions, at a press conference at The Garden on Tuesday.

The News adds the 68-year-old Jackson hopes to quickly rebuild the Knicks and is expected to be leading the charge over the next three seasons as the Knicks also chase free-agents to be Kevin Durant, Kevin Love and Rajon Rondo.

"There's no way LeBron would have gone to New York under the current climate," a James confidant told the newspaper. "But with Phil there I think he will look at it."
