The Sports World News free agency primer continues until free agency starts on March 11th. Running back is a big skill position with a very short shelf life. This years class includes several interesting names at the top and specialty players that fit certain roles. The top five at the position and predictions:

No. 1 Ben Tate: The consensus top running back in this class is Arian Foster’s backup. Tate has earned his stripes and will step into a role where he is the lead dog. From the second the Browns traded Trent Richardson I believed Tate was destined for Cleveland. Since then the Browns have imploded and management has changed. Michael Lombardi was the man who coveted Tate and it only makes sense for him to still pursue him. Tate could still end up in Cleveland and it would be an incredible fit but…… Prediction: Patriots

No. 2 Knowshon Moreno: Moreno had an under the radar great season in the shadow of Peyton Manning’s season. The Broncos have chosen to move forward with Montee Ball and will let Moreno walk. He will have many suitors, but this will be Cleveland’s silver medal and they not be dissapointed with the results. Prediction: Browns

No. 3 Darren McFadden: I admit I am a little higher on McFadden than most people, but in the right system I believe his still a great back. McFadden will benefit from being in a two back system and his body will thank him. Tennessee is the team that comes to mind with Shonn Greene, but until they release Chris Johnson he can’t be mocked there. His agent has also said the Bengals are a perfect fit, but “it’s not gunna happen”. Prediction: Dolphins

No. 4 Andre Brown: Brown is the most recent Giant running back to come out of nowhere. Following in the footsteps of Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw and Derrick Ward. Brown had himself an up and down season in relief of bust in the making David Wilson. I believe Brown is a product of his scheme and would be crazy to leave. Prediction: Giants

No. 5 Maurice Jones-Drew: I am on the fence between MJD and LeGarrette Blount8. I take MJD on experience over Blount who could be a flash in the pan. MJD is a career Jaguar and I fully expect him to get a good amount of money from a contender. That being said, the number of teams who could interested in MJD’s skill set is limited. The money might not be right for him to leave. Prediction: Jaguars

BONUS: LeGarrette Blount: Raiders
Darren Sproles: Vikings
Donald Brown: Colts
Rashad Jennings: Giants
Joique Bell: Titans
