Brooklyn Nets forward Paul Pierce won't mind reuniting with his old Boston Celtics team whether as a player or as an official in the future.

The former Celtics franchise player on Friday said he won't mind returning to Boston in some capacity even after the team traded him away last summer along with Kevin Garnett to the Brooklyn Nets. ESPN.com quoted Pierce as saying: "Maybe play for them, maybe work for them. Who knows what the future holds?"

Pierce is in the last year of his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent come July 1. He could return to Boston this summer, although the Celtics have started a massive rebuilding process aided by last summer's trade with the Nets that got them three first-round draft picks.

Pierce said he likes what the franchise has done to make its team younger. "They are a young team, they got a mix of some veterans, some young guys they are developing and they are only going to get better. Rondo is leading them right now, moving into the next generation of Celtics. I think their future is going to be very bright."

He continued: "I know the Celtics are going to do whatever it takes. They've got great owners, great management to get back to that top level again.

Pierce is the Celtics' second-leading scorer behind John Havlicek. Drafted as the 10th overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft, he played 15 years for the Celtics. He has the most three-point field goals in franchise history and ranks third in games played and fifth in assists.
