With all the good vibes coming out of Angels’ camp concerning Mike Trout, the cameras seem to have forgotten how disappointing the Angels have been. More specifically, they have neglected how bad Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton have been.

Pujols in particular is having himself a rough time in Los Angeles. With his struggles and Trout’s explosion onto the scene, Pujols was asked during a routine interview if he thinks he can put up “Mike Trout numbers” this coming season. Pujols, a player who was once the cream of the crop in the MLB, didn’t take the comparison lightly.

2014 Veteran Fantasy Sleepers

“Can you imagine someone saying that to me? I felt like saying, 'Come on, are you serious? Are you really asking me that? Check out my numbers. I know what Mike Trout has done in his first two years is pretty special, but will you look at my numbers. I've been doing this for almost 14 years.'

"The only guy in baseball who can match the numbers I've put up is Barry Bonds, and someone is actually asking if I can put up numbers like Mike Trout?

"Are you freaking kidding me?”

Pujols Steriod Case Thrown Out

The changing of the guard is well underway with Mike Trout quickly becoming the face of the Angels and the MLB, so Pujols’ reaction isn’t all that surprising. Pujols reaction could hint at some jealously toward Trout mixed with expectations he has failed to live up to since signing his deal. Pujols signed his mega deal with the Angels in 2012 to the tune of $240 million all guaranteed and hasn't lived up to the billing.
