Cleveland Browns rumors [VIDEO]: GM Ray Farmer hints at selecting a QB in NFL Draft, 'I currently have somebody in front'

The Cleveland Browns are looking for a new quarterback to lead the team out of the plethora of signal callers available in the 2014 NFL Draft, and new general manager Ray Farmer said that he knows exactly who he hopes to select, but he isn't telling the media openly.

With Brian Hoyer rehabbing and sitting atop the team's depth chart under center, Farmer knows the importance of his selection when draft day kicks off on May 8. Farmer admitted he has one top prospect in mind, but wouldn't say who it was.

"I do know what I'd do if I was held down at the moment," Farmer told Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer. "It doesn't mean that can't change, but I currently have somebody in front."

Farmer wouldn't speculate further on if the top prospect was Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M), Teddy Bridgewater (Louisville), Blake Bortles (Central Florida) or another quarterback, leading many to speculate over what the Browns plans will be with the fourth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

While it is likely that the team will select a quarterback, Farmer has remained coy and even hinted that the team may not have the urgency to draft a signal caller, especially with the No. 4 overall pick, but the general manager could be making coy public comments as a way to keep their draft plans a secret which is common practice come draft time.

The Browns are looking to improve as soon as possible after finishing in 4th place in the AFC North for the third straight season with a 4-12 record. The team hasn't finished above third in the division since 2007, and hasn't made the playoffs since 2002, when it finished second in the North with a 9-7 record only to lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the wildcard round.

Farmer gave a little bit of a hint as to what the team's plans are going forward, but the Browns general manager won't fully show his hand until draft weekend starting on May 8.
