Tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET, the Pittsburgh Penguins (37-14-2, 76 points) and Los Angeles Kings (30-19-6, 66 points) skate against each other live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the first of two meetings against each other this season. The game can be live streamed here. Pittsburgh fans can hear all of the action on 105.9 WXDX while Los Angeles fans can do the same on KTLK 1150.
Pittsburgh enters play on top of the Eastern Conference and has won three of its last four games while Los Angeles has lost six out of its last seven games.
The Penguins were handed lopsided losses from the Florida Panthers and Dallas Stars in the last week, but rattled off a 3-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Monday.
"I'm never going to look at a game, Florida and/or Dallas and say, 'Chalk it up,'" coach Dan Bylsma told NHL.com. "You can look at a lot of different things ... the standings, the points and the gap and traveling from Long Island to Dallas. Sometimes that happens in the course of a season where you look at that and we didn't play well; we didn't play well in Dallas."
The Kings were able to snap a five-game losing streak against the San Jose Sharks on Monday but lost 3-0 to the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday.
"We don't lose games because of effort, I'll put it that way," coach Darryl Sutter said via NHL.com. "I think you see us always push back and push through, but sometimes your top guys don't have the energy to do it. It was evident on the power play [Monday] night.
The Kings have been led offensively by Anze Kopitar, who has 42 points off of 15 goals and 27 assists while Mike Richards has seven tallies and 28 helpers for 35 points and Jeff Carter has lit the lamp 20 times and added 14 assists for 34 points.
Sidney Crosby paces the Penguins and has an NHL-best 74 points off of 27 goals and 47 assists while Chris Kunitz has 26 markers and 28 helpers for 54 points and Evgeni Malkin has found the back of the net 14 times and added 37 assists for 51 points.
In between the pipes, Pittsburgh will likely go with Marc-Andre Fleury, who is 29-12-1 with a 2.26 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage while Jonathan Quick will likely man the crease for Los Angeles and is 15-10-2 with a 2.05 GAA and a .917 save percentage.
The Penguins hope to keep their stranglehold on the Eastern Conference while the Kings will try to find their winning ways and end their cold spell when these teams hit the ice tonight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
