CC Sabathia Jay Z Connection? [PHOTO] Yankees Pitcher Joins Roc Nation, 'Exemplifies Everything Roc Nation Looks For In An Athlete' [VIDEO]

New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia followed in the footsteps of his former teammate Robinson Cano Thursday when he signed with rap mogul Jay Z's Roc Nation sports group, allowing the firm to represent him on and off the field.

According to ESPN, Sabathia and Roc Nation have partnered up and Roc Nation spoke highly of its latest acquisition after the deal was announced.

"CC exemplifies everything Roc Nation looks for in an athlete and a partner," Roc Nation Sports president Juan Perez said in a statement, according to ESPN.

Sabathia, 33 has a guaranteed $76 million on the three remaining years of his contract with the Yankees and his contract won't come up until the 2017 season, but when it does Jay-Z and Perez will represent their client during negotiations.

The agency's official Twitter account sent out a picture of Sabathia signing on the dotted line:

ESPN reports that Sabathia had been with the firm now known as Legacy Sports Group for his entire career before making the jump and he also has endorsement deals with the Jordan Brand while he's also done commercials for Subway and Pepsi. Half of Roc Nation's clients play in New York with Sabathia joining quarterback Geno Smith of the Jets and wide receiver Victor Cruz of the Giants.

Of course, one of the firm's top New York clients left the state when Roc Nation negotiated a 10-year $240 million contract with the Seattle Mariners for Cano this offseason. The other two clients represented by the group are Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Skiylar Diggins of the WNBA.

Sabathia signed an eight-year $182 million deal with the Yankees in 2009 and went 14-13 through 32 games last season while posting a 4.79 ERA, 1.370 WHIP and 175 strikeouts.

Come 2017, his fate will be in the hands of Jay-Z and Roc Nation
