Royal Rumble 2014 Rumors [VIDEO]: Chris Jericho A Surprise Entrant? No Plans On 'Y2J' Return

With "Y2J" Chris Jericho recently wrapping up a tour with his band Fozzy, rumors have surfaced that he may be returning to the WWE and that he could be a surprise entrant at the WWE's Royal Rumble pay-per-view on Jan. 26 at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, but reports indicate that the WWE hasn't struck a deal with Jericho to return.

Jericho, who made one of the most remembered debuts in WWE history back in 1999, has a knack for throwing fans off and making surprise returns after saying that he wouldn't be returning, and when he recently took to his Twitter account to deny reports that he'd be returning for the 30-man over-the-top-rope Royal Rumble match with the chance to face the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania XXX on the line, most fans thought he was just trolling them again.

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports, however, that as of a few days ago there were no deals with Jericho or plans in place to bring Jericho back anytime soon, though the door to a return for "Y2J" is always open as he remains on good terms with the company.

The WWE always looks to bring in surprise entrants for the 30-man Royal Rumble match every year, and Jericho was one himself in 2013 when he claimed he wasn't returning to the WWE last year and ended up coming in as a surprise entrant at No.2 after a six-month hiatus.

Jericho took to his Twitter in late-December and vowed to his fans that he wasn't returning and this time he wasn't planning any elaborate hoax. Jericho also apologized in the tweet:

Jericho was last seen in the WWE in July when he finished up his short-term obligation in order to work on his outside interests that include Fozzy, acting and his new Talk is Jericho podcast.

Jericho has been known to tease his fans, including in December after his Fozzy tour wrapped up and he slyly tweeted that he was headed to Houston, where the WWE's TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view was taking place.

"Goodbye #Fozztralia," Jericho tweeted, "See ya soon! Taking off for Houston...Hahah just kidding! (Or am I?)"

Jericho didn't show up in December, but until the final 10-second countdown to the 30th entrant in the Royal Rumble is over, the speculation of a Jericho return at the event won't stop.
