Tony Dungy Return to Coaching? Dungy Tells Dan Patrick That Detroit Lions 'One Job I'd Want' [VIDEO]

It's already being laughed off as a joke, except for the fact that Tony Dungy himself initiated the rumor.

Gridirongrit.com posted a YouTube video of an interview former NFL head coach Tony Dungy did on The Dan Patrick Show on Thursday, in which Dungy said that the vacant Detroit Lions head coaching job would be the one job he'd want if he were to come back into coaching.

Dungy compiled a 139-69 record during a 13-year career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts. He won a Super Bowl with the Colts in 2006 before retiring after the 2008 season.

Gridirongrid.com stated that Dungy doesn't plan on leaving, but Dungy seemed to hint that he'd be willing to listen if the Lions called.

Patrick started the conversation asking, "How many conversations in the last week about jobs?"

"I've consulted people," Dungy responded, explaining that teams call to ask his opinion and then said the first questions teams usually ask is whether he is interested in coming back.

"I haven't had anything serious," Dungy said, before appearing to sound like he could be persuaded to return if the right situation presented itself.

"I think the best job out there is the Detroit Lions', " Dungy said. "I think they're a Super Bowl team."

Patrick then asked, "If you were going to coach, if you were coming back and I had all these openings. ..."

Patrick didn't even finish is question when Dungy replied, "That's the job I would want."

Jackson was born in Jackson, Michigan, and gridirongrit.com reported that Patrick later thought the Lions job would be perfect of Dungy.

"Can you imagine Tony Dungy if he took the Lions job?" Patrick asked. "Now he's not, but this is where he's from, he grew up in Detroit. You go back home? I'm going to pencil you in for 10 or 11 wins right away. Right away.

"You're a hero. You do that, lead Detroit to the Super Bowl, run for mayor and you bring back Detroit."
