All the summer workouts with LeBron James finally appear to be paying off for former top draft pick Greg Oden.
BleacherReport.com reports prior to the defending champion Miami Heat taking on the Sacramento Kings on Friday, Oden was spotted putting himself through a strenous, yet seemingly pain-free workout. The website later added Oden is now traveling with the team and his pregame workouts are expanding.
It could all mean the seven-footer is growing closer to officially making his Heat debut. The team signed the oft-injured center over the summer as insurance for their undersized front line.
"Our discipline with that to this point has been the most important thing, and just thinking big picture with him," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra told BleacherReport of an ongoing plan to strengthen Oden's legs, hips and core.
Soon after he inked his deal with the Heat, USA TODAY reported James had taken Oden under his wing and the two regularly worked out together, with James also providing him with insights into what it means to be a member of the NBA champs.
James and the Heat are seeking to become just the third team over the last 15 years to earn a three peat, joining Michael Jordan's Bulls ( 1996-98) and Kobe Bryant's Lakers ( 2000-02).
