Dwyane Wade is noteworthy for his collection of rings. On Saturday, he made news for giving one.
Multiple media sites are reporting that Wade, the Miami Heat star guard, proposed to his girlfriend of four years, actress Gabrielle Union.
He shared the news with a photo of the ring on Union's finger on his Instagram account.
"She said YES!!!" was the caption that Wade wrote with the photo, according to BasketballBicker.com. Union also included the photo on her Instagram with the caption, "So this happened... #Yessss."
Both have been in previous marriages. Wade married his high school sweetheart, Siohvaughn Funches, in 2002. Wade filed for divorce in 2007, and the divorce was finalized in 2010, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
A divorce settlement for the couple wasn't finalized until July of this year, when a judge validated it. The couple has two children, Zion and Zaire.
Union married former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Chris Howard in 2001. The couple met in 1999 and divorced in 2005, according to PEOPLE Magazine.
Eonline.com reported that Union told Access Hollywood in 2012 that she wanted to get married again, she said "absolutely" but added "but I'm taking a lot more time leading up to it."
"It's seriously awesome," Union said of her relationship to Wade. "When you've been a couple for so long, people are like 'when's the baby!'...we both kind of rushed into marriage and neither one of us was successful at that, so we're both kind of like, let's take our time. If the goal is forever, what are we rushing for."
Wade, the 11-year NBA veteran, is averaging 19.9 points per game for the two-time defending champion Heat. The former Marquette star has won three world titles - and three rings - with the Heat, the other coming in 2006.
