Sixers Drama: Tyrese Maxey Calls Out Joel Embiid, Internal Meeting Leaks Stir Tension Amid Losing Streak

The Philadelphia 76ers had a private meeting after losing to the Miami Heat on Monday night to discuss their setbacks on a four-game losing streak. However, this does not sit right for the returning Joel Embiid.

Coach Nick Nurse confirmed the meeting but kept mum about most aspects, saying that it was more of a gameplay-discussion-style type of thing.

Key takeaways from ESPN's Shams Charania on the important meeting where Tyrese Maxey puts some off-court stuff on Joel Embiid's lap. His message reportedly resonated with Embiid, but he later admitted to areas of improvement for Embiid.

The All-Star Center expressed frustration over the leaking of internal matters, calling out the mysterious source as it brings irrelevant distraction.

"Whoever leaked that is a real piece of sh*t," Embiid told reporters on Wednesday, according to Tony Jones of the Athletic. "It's kind of annoying having to deal with the same things over and over and over."

Sixers' On-Court Frustrations Perpetuate

The 76ers still could not find themselves winning on Wednesday, Nov. 20, in Memphis against the Grizzlies. Meanwhile, Maxey returned from a hamstring strain, and still, the team lost by a margin of 117-111 against a Memphis lineup that came into the game without two of their regular players. This loss makes their record 2-12.

Joel Embiid Proves He's a Force to Deal With After Injuries

Amid turmoil within the team, Joel Embiid proves why he's the first go-to guy in the team. In 35 minutes, the seven-time All-Star scored 35 points, rebounded for 11, dished two assists, and added one steal. Noteworthy was his 14-for-14 showing from the free-throw stripe; he didn't miss from the stripe after shooting a goose egg in Miami.

Even though this meeting has brought some very constructive conversation, the Sixers have yet to translate that into success.

Moving forward with such frustrations and a long-drawn season ahead, Philadelphia needs to overcome the pressure and season challenges, especially since they are now at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
