Drake made his stance on former Toronto Raptors star DeMar DeRozan crystal clear on Saturday, Nov. 2, seemingly throwing some jabs his way after DeRozan appeared in a role on Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" music video.
DeRozan was back in Toronto with his new team, the Sacramento Kings, but Drake was not exactly feeling the love. The night started with a special jersey retirement ceremony for Raptors legend Vince Carter, but when Drake was asked on the TSN broadcast if DeRozan deserved a spot in the Raptors' rafters, he threw in some serious shade.
Drake Won't Offer Kind Words to DeMar at the Moment
That was only the beginning, though. During the game, according to Yahoo, Drake appeared to take shots at DeRozan, and even reportedly made a derogatory comment as the six-time All-Star approached.
After the game, in the press conference, DeRozan was asked about the comments made by Drake. He wasn't pleased about it. "He gon' have a long way to climb to take it down," he said."Tell him good luck."
It all seems to be about more than team loyalty, going back at least to DeRozan's recent cameo in Kendrick Lamar's viral diss track aimed at Drake, and his onstage appearance at Kendrick's concert in Los Angeles this past July.
In the song, Kendrick says, "I'm glad DeRoz' came home, y'all didn't deserve him neither," a line that stirred talk about Drake's longstanding rap rivalries.
DeRozan Still Loves Drake, But the Latter Says No
While DeRozan attempted to make it some platonic by saying, he still loves Drake or something like that, it seems to me maybe Drizzy himself does not care, as per TMZ.
That may be a reason on behalf of the "Hotline Bling" singer being much occupied or he couldn't give two hoots about the attempt that DeMar Derozan made with respect to not getting muddled up. It was, in fact, so very obvious that these were two former friends who shared no love lost between them.
