Simone Biles could be a key in Jordan Chiles' appeal to keep the Bronze Medal she initially won at the recently concluded 2024 Paris Olympics.
Court documents released this week show that Chiles' appeal included video footage taken by director Katie Walsh and Religion of Sports. It is the same production company working on Biles' Netflix documentary, "Simon Biles: Rising," USA Today reported.
The video was taken as part of the final two episodes of the TV special to air later this year. The outlet noted that Walsh had special permission to film at the Olympic event in Bercy Arena last month.
The footage can be the key proof to support Chiles and USA Gymnastics' claim that the gymnast's team made their official inquiry on her score before the 60-second timeframe lapsed.
According to USA Today, the clip shows Coach Cecile Landi, the 23-year-old athlete's coach, saying, "Inquiry for Jordan!" at the 49-second mark. She repeated the remark before the 60-second deadline, NBC Sports noted.
Walsh reportedly reached out to the Olympian's team, promising to review the footage she has to help with the case.
"I keep listening to it. They didn't even try to find the facts!!! This is clear. This shows it was submitted in time," Chiles' mother, Gina, said in a Facebook comment.
