Shaquille O'Neal has called Caitlin Clark the "real deal" after seeing the rookie play live against Angel Reese.
Shaq was present at the Indiana Fever versus Chicago Sky game on August 30 to watch Clark and Reese's last match against each other in the WNBA regular season.
The Hall of Famer has been vocal about his support for the LSU Tigers' standout, and even said in July that he believes Reese will be Rookie of the Year. However, after watching the showdown, it seems Shaq has seen enough of Clark to be impressed.
"I saw it in person. She can play ... from a basketball standpoint, she makes all the right plays, gets everybody involved," the 52-year-old former NBA superstar told USA Today, adding that he thinks the Fever rookie is the "real deal."
The president of Reebok Basketball also compared the 22-year-old to his favorite NBA player, Stephen Curry. He pointed out that Clark has been shooting like Curry's three-point range this season.
Clark currently leads the WNBA in three-pointers made in her first year in the league.
Caitlin Clark's Impressive Rookie Year
Clark has shown brilliance in her first season in the WNBA. Aside from three-pointers, she also leads the league in assists per game with 8.5.
The former Iowa Hawkeyes star also had the most assists in a game this year with 19. It is the record for the most assists in a game in WNBA history.
With Reese out for the rest of the season due to an injury, Clark is expected to win Rookie of the Year. Some are also considering her for the MVP award this year, although it is unlikely she'll win.
Clark and the Fever are set to face the Las Vega Aces on Wednesday.
