Boston Celtics point guard Derrick White played a pivotal role in securing the franchise's 18th championship, achieved during the 2024 NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks.
The 29-year-old exhibited great sacrifice and determination throughout the championship run, sustaining a chipped front tooth during the decisive Game 5 on Monday, June 17, at TD Garden in Boston.
The day after winning the title, White's father, Richard, offered an update on the status of Derrick's front tooth when a fan asked if it was already fixed.
"Nope wearing it proudly. All in good time," he posted on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
White sustained the aesthetic blemish after a face-first fall onto TD Garden's parquet floor following a collision with Mavericks center Dereck Lively II after diving for a loose ball in the second quarter.

The 6-foot-4 player didn't mind his imperfect teeth, given the incredible achievement the team accomplished.
White told ESPN reporter Lisa Salters during the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy presentation to the team that he was willing to endure more of it.
"I'd lose all my teeth for a championship. I'll get it fixed. I'm going to enjoy this one," White said to the roar of the Boston crowd.
