Kansas City Chiefs defensive end B.J. Thompson experienced a significant health scare after suffering a seizure that led to cardiac arrest during a special teams meeting at the team's practice facility last Thursday, June 6.

However, less than a week later, the 25-year-old received good news and took a huge step forward in his recovery.

Thompson was released from the hospital on Monday night, June 10, according to his agent, Chris Turnage of United Athlete Sports Agency, who informed league insider Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

The Arkansas native recorded two solo tackles, both occurring in the fourth quarter of the contest.

Chiefs executive provides update on BJ Thompson's condition

A day after the incident, Kansas City Chiefs head athletic trainer and Vice President of Sports Medicine and Performance Rick Burkholder visited Thompson in the hospital and provided a positive update.

"He's alert, he's awake, he's coming through quite well. We don't have a diagnosis, and in medicine, sometimes you don't have that... He's headed in the absolutely right direction," Burkholder said.

Thompson was selected by the Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft with the 166th overall pick.
