Caitlin Clark Breaks Silence on Missing Out on Team USA's 2024 Olympics Roster

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has recently commented for the first time since reports surfaced suggesting that she is expected to not make the cut for the Team USA basketball squad, which will compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris next month. 

The league's most hyped rookie spoke to reporters during media availability on Sunday, June 9, following a team practice.

"I know it's the most competitive team in the world, and I knew it could've gone either way, me being on the team, me not being on the team. I'm excited for them. I'm going to be rooting them on to win gold," the 22-year-old admitted

Another report indicated that Clark's exclusion from the team may have been due to Team USA's concerns regarding the potential reaction of her millions of fans to the likelihood of her receiving limited playing time on a roster packed with talent.

"I think it just gives you something to work for. That's a dream. Hopefully one day I can be there. I think it's just a little more motivation," the NCAA's all-time leading scorer added. 

Indiana Fever coach reveals what Caitlin Clark told the team 

Fever head coach Christie Sides revealed what Clark told the team upon learning of her snub from the roster. 

Sides mentioned that Clark received the call while on the team bus, and she tried lifting the rookie's spirits.  

"The thing she said was 'hey coach, they woke a monster,' which I thought was awesome," the 47-year-old coach shared.
