Bayern Munich has secured their next manager for the foreseeable future after hiring Vincent Kompany to lead the team on a contract until 2027.
Former Bayern Munich Chief Executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed that during the search for their next manager, the club sought the opinion of their former coach and current Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, who had positive things to say about the former Belgian defender.
"Pep Guardiola was also helping us with Kompany, he spoke very highly of Vincent as a talented coach. Pep knows Vincent well and his opinion was really appreciated," the 68-year-old executive said in an interview.
Guardiola managed Bayern Munich from 2013 to 2016, winning seven trophies, including three Bundesliga titles.
The Spanish tactician maintains an excellent relationship with the club, according to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

During an interview, The two-time treble-winning manager stated his glowing recommendation of Kompany to the German giants, who are coming off a season without winning the Bundesliga or any other trophy for the first time since 2012.
"I have the biggest admiration for his work, personality and expertise. It doesn't matter if he got relegated with Burnley. I would love Bayern to take the best decision," the 53-year-old stated.
Kompany played under Guardiola during his final years as a player at Manchester City from 2016 to 2019, during which he also served as the club captain.
