Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola's days in England may be numbered.

The Spanish manager may find himself coaching on a different sideline or taking a break this time next year, with his contract with the Premier League champions set to expire.

Guardiola is reportedly set to leave Manchester City at the end of the 2024-25 season, according to Jack Gaughan of the Daily Mail.

The 53-year-old tactician has 12 months remaining on his current deal with the club, and their wealthy Abu Dhabi-based ownership is more than willing to extend his tenure for a few more years.

The club's ownership is now preparing for a potential Guardiola exit, with Girona's manager, Michel, a club also owned by City Football Group, emerging as a potential successor after their sensational season in La Liga.

Pep Guardiola hints at leaving during Manchester City's Premier League celebrations

The upcoming 2024-25 season will be Guardiola's ninth campaign with Manchester City, easily the longest managerial stint of his career after previous tenures lasting for four seasons with FC Barcelona and three seasons with Bayern Munich.

The only two-time treble-winning manager in football history made an admission amid their celebration of a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

"The reality is I'm closer to leaving than to staying. It's eight years, will be nine. Right now my feeling is I want to stay next season," the six-time Premier League champion said on Sky Sports.
