Could Giannis Antetokounmpo Be Traded to the Knicks This Offseason?

After the Milwaukee Bucks were unexpectedly bounced out of the NBA Playoffs by the Indiana Pacers, the whole league is monitoring Giannis Antetokounmpo's status with the team.

Other teams, like the New York Knicks, are monitoring the situation with Antetokounmpo, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

"The whole league is watching what happens with Giannis. Certainly, the Knicks are one of them,"

Get Buck'd

Giannis Antetokounmpo signed a three-year $175.9 million deal to remain with the Milwaukee Bucks last season, locking him in with the franchise until the 2026-27 season.

Windhorst also made it clear that there were no rumors of him wanting out of Milwaukee.

Considering his contract suitability, it seems perplexing that the Bucks would entertain trading their franchise cornerstone.

However, crazier things have happened in the NBA. The Bucks are fresh off a disappointing season, one that saw them fire their coach mid-season, replacing Adrian Griffin with Doc Rivers.

Despite finishing third in the Eastern Conference, the team was underwhelming after trading for Damian Lillard. They spent most of the season at the bottom of the league defensively, struggling to find chemistry throughout the year.

Additionally, we didn't see how the Antetokounmpo and Lillard pairing would fare in the postseason, as Giannis suffered a calf injury that kept him out of the entire first-round series against the Pacers.

Where There's Smoke

The New York Knicks have shown some interest in potentially acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo since last offseason

Giannis, at one point, was reported to not be 100% certain of his future in Milwaukee before re-signing last year, being that they haven't had much playoff success since winning it all in 2021.

The Knicks experienced great success last season, winning 50 games for the first time since 2012-13, before being knocked out of the postseason by the Indiana Pacers in the second round.

New York has shown that they are once again one major piece away from being true title contenders.

If Giannis Antetokounmpo somehow does request a trade, could we see him in the Blue and Orange next year?
