FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has attracted interest from a surprising club known for its lucrative offers.

Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad is reportedly eager to acquire the German goalie, as revealed by renowned Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano during a recent appearance on a Saudi Arabian podcast, MicsPod.

The Saudi Pro League as a whole has shown interest in several big-name players, including Ter Stegen.

Ter Stegen's interest in a move to the Middle East remains unclear, but this isn't the first time the oil-rich kingdom has attempted to acquire the goalie.

A previous report from Forbes in the summer of 2023 stated that an unnamed club in Saudi Arabia had offered Barcelona €80 million ($88 million) for Ter Stegen.

The 2022-23 La Liga Player of the Season was offered a salary of €25 million ($28 million) a year for three seasons, but he chose to continue with the Catalan club for the ongoing 2023-24 campaign.

Saudi Pro League wants more big-name players

With big names such as Cristiano Ronaldo of Al-Nassr, Neymar Jr. of Al-Hilal, and Karim Benzema of Al-Ittihad, Saudi Arabia aims to attract more stars to their domestic league.

Aside from Ter Stegen, Romano also mentioned that the league wants to acquire Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne to play for their teams.

Romano specifically named Al Ittihad as the interested party for Ter Stegen but did not mention specific clubs for De Bruyne and Salah.
