The Boston Celtics were left stunned at home in the TD Garden after a significant 118-94 defeat to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference Semifinal playoff series on Thursday, May 9.
Despite the setback, Celtics star Jayson Tatum has downplayed the loss, emphasizing that no one in their locker room was deflated, and they tend to bounce back effectively after such occurrences.
"We get it, the world thinks we're never supposed to lose. We're supposed to win every game by 25. It's not going to be like that all the time. We don't expect it to be easy... I like to think we respond pretty well when we do lose," the 26-year-old told the media in the post-game press conference.
The Celtics have lost Game 2 at home for the second time this postseason, a similar situation to their first-round matchup against the Miami Heat.
However, they managed to bounce back and secure three consecutive victories in that series to eliminate Miami.
Jayson Tatum unfazed with shooting struggles
Despite leading the team in scoring with 29 points, Tatum had a somewhat lackluster shooting night, going 7-of-17 from the field and 2-of-5 from beyond the arc.
The two-time All-NBA First Team member remained undeterred despite his apparent need for more production.
"[I've] been in the league long enough that sometimes you just don't make them. You just gotta still continue to take the right shots, and it'll even out... I know how to score the ball... Scoring is kinda like the least of my worries," he said.
