FC Barcelona's aspirations for the league title were dealt a significant blow following a painful 3-2 loss against rivals Real Madrid on Sunday, April 21, at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid.

The Catalan club is having a rough week. Last week, French club Paris Saint-Germain eliminated them from the UEFA Champions League.

Despite their defeat in the latest El Clasico, Barcelona remained competitive throughout the match, and a disallowed potential goal by Lamine Yamal in the 28th minute could have altered the game's outcome.

Several key figures within the club have expressed frustration due to the absence of goal-line technology in La Liga, which has not given a clear verdict on the situation.

"I can't find the words to explain what happened on the goal line. It's embarrassing for football. There is a lot of money in this industry, but not for what is important," Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen said.

Jude Bellingham, a 20-year-old winger, scored the game-winning goal in the 90th minute. This secured the victory for Los Blancos, who now appear to have all but sealed the La Liga title race.

Xavi describes lack of goal-line technology in La Liga as 'embarrassing'

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez agreed with his goalkeeper's sentiments.

"It's embarrassing that there is no goal-line technology. If we want to say this is the best league in the world, we need it," the 44-year-old tactician said in the post-game press conference.

La Liga is the only one among the world's top five leagues that has not implemented goal-line technology, which utilizes electronic aids to tell whether a goal has been scored definitively.
