The Golden State Warriors have been eliminated from contention in the 2024 NBA Playoffs following a brutal 118-94 defeat in the play-in tournament game against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday, April 16, at the Golden 1 Center.
Warriors star Klay Thompson endured a particularly rough evening, as he went scoreless despite playing 32 minutes. He struggled from the field, shooting 0-of-10 overall and 0-of-6 from three-point range.
With free agency looming, Thompson's future in the Bay Area remains uncertain, especially after his underwhelming performance in the season's biggest game. However, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has made his feelings clear on the matter.
"We need Klay back, I know he had a tough night tonight.. Klay's presence means so much to the spacing of the floor, to the flow of the offense," Kerr said to the media after the game.
The 34-year-old sharpshooter only contributed four rebounds and one assist, turning the ball over once.
"He still got good years left. I know I speak for everybody in the organization-We want him back. We desperately want him back," the four-time NBA champion coach added.
Draymond Green also wants Klay Thompson to return
Warriors forward Draymond Green indirectly expressed his desire for Thompson to return to Golden State next season.
However, he also believes that the team will ultimately make the best decision regarding the future.
"They'll make the decision that's best for the team ... I don't think there's any scenario where Klay leaves and that's the best decision for the team," Green stated.
