FC Barcelona once again endured a humiliating evening in the UEFA Champions League, a recurring theme that has haunted them for nearly the past decade since their last triumph in the competition during the 2014-15 season.

Young star Lamine Yamal vowed to bounce back after Paris Saint-Germain eliminated them in the competition's quarterfinals this season on Tuesday, April 16.

"There's always payback in football; we will be back," Barcelona's youngest goalscorer said on Instagram after the game.

The Catalan giants entered the second leg of their matchup against PSG with a 3-2 lead, having notched a huge victory in Paris and an opportunity to reach the semifinals for the first time in the post-Lionel Messi era.

However, their hopes faded after PSG took a 4-1 win at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, Barcelona's temporary home while Spotify Camp Nou is being renovated.

Barcelona crumbles after Ronald Araujo's red card

Barcelona even managed to score the game's first goal, thanks to a 14th-minute strike from Raphinha, extending their aggregate lead to 4-2.

However, their advantage took a hit when center-back Ronald Araújo received a red card around the 30th minute, leaving Barcelona with ten men for the remainder of the game. Their defense crumbled, conceding four consecutive goals.

This resulted in a 6-4 aggregate defeat for the reigning La Liga champions, leading to their elimination from the Champions League.
