Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis might have sustained an injury during the team's final regular-season game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday, April 14, on the road at the Smoothie King Center.

Upon being pushed into the air by Pelicans' big man Larry Nance Jr. and landing awkwardly midway in the fourth quarter, the 31-year-old experienced hip and back spasms and did not return to the game.

Lakers head coach Darvin Ham stated that Davis was merely dealing with a spasm, describing it as nothing major and expressing optimism about the star big man's chances of suiting up for their play-in game tournament on Tuesday, April 16.

Davis himself echoed his head coach's sentiments during his post-game interview.

"There's no doubt I'm gonna play [on Tuesday]," the NBA 75th Anniversary Team member said.

The former Kentucky standout played a career-high 76 regular season games this season.

Lakers beat Pelicans in play-in preview

The Lakers secured a victory over the Pelicans with a final score of 124-108, currently holding the eighth seed in the Western Conference.

They will face the Pelicans once more on Tuesday in the same venue for the play-in game to determine the 7th seed.

A win would guarantee them a playoff berth, while a loss would lead them to a winner-takes-all game for the final playoff spot against the winner of the other play-in game between the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings.
