The Houston Texans dominated the Ravens to post a 43-13 victory. This win is very important and satisfying for the Texans, because the Ravens had defeated them in the last six games.
Two brilliant touchdown passes by Matt Schaub coupled with Arian Foster running for two scores saw the Texans dominate the depleted Ravens defense.
The Ravens had beaten the Texans in their previous six encounters having also eliminated them from the playoffs last year.
The Texans set a new franchise record Sunday when Matt Schaub finished 23 of 37 passes for 256 yards. They finished with 420 total yards.
The Associated Press quoted Gary Kubiak, the Texan coach as saying: "We were really into what we were doing and we were there all day long, so it was a good team effort."
Baltimore (5-2) missed Ray Lewis, their injured ace linebacker.
Terrell Suggs, the Ravens' linebacker said: "It's not the end of the world but it's not something we're going to take lightly, either."
The Ravens looked out of sorts throughout the game. Neither their defense nor their offense made any significant contributions.
Joe Flacco looked under pressure most of the time and never really hit his range. None of the Ravens receivers had a reception more than 15 yards. They had come into Sunday's game with 34 offensive plays, the highest in the league covering about 20 yards.
Kubiak said: "We can still play great defense and expect to do that the rest of the year."
After an early 3-0 lead, the Ravens started succumbing to the pressure built up by Houston. They had no answers to the Texans' impressive game plan and seemed to be guessing for most of the match.
The Texans were at their aggressive best when they saw the Raven's defense weakening. Garrett Graham, the tight end, made a superb and acrobatic catch, and a spectacular diving catch by Owen Daniels in the end zone saw the Texans leading 22-3 at one point, before continuing their dominance.Flacco said of the Texans: "They played well. We didn't. They played fast and we just weren't able to stand up to it today and give it a good fight."
