Green Bay enters with some questions at quarterback while Dallas' worst-ranked defense will look to turn it around. The Packers will be without Aaron Rodgers meaning that Matt Flynn will take the reins under center.
Rodgers has been sidelined for six weeks with a broken collarbone and had been hoping to make his way back.
"[Rodgers is] the face of our franchise and until he's medically cleared, just like any other player going through a significant injury, that's really where the focus will be," coach Mike McCarthy said via ESPN.
Flynn is 77-for-122 (63.1%) this season for 81 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions.
Green Bay enters play a half-game behind the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions in the NFC North and doesn't control its own destiny while Dallas controls its fate and enters play one game behind the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles and hosts Philadelphia in Week 17.
The Cowboys were absolutely shredded Monday night in the team's 45-28 loss to the Chicago Bears and will be looking to bounce back.
"Basically, we will have to make some adjustments in what we are doing defensively," owner Jerry Jones said Monday, according to ESPN. "What that usually means is taking more risks on defense. But if you're going to have the kind of match like we had tonight or certainly in New Orleans, you have to take some risks. We have to double up and I'm sure that will be part of the plan on defense; more risks."
Flynn is slated to make his third consecutive start if Rodgers isn't able to go, and he helped the team end a 0-4-1 skid last week with a 22-21 victory over Atlanta.
"We've got to do our job and go out there and execute," Flynn, who threw for 258 yards and had a touchdown and interception against the Falcons, told ESPN. "We think they're a talented defense. We know what we've got to do, we've got to try to work out any of the mistakes we're making and play a really clean game, especially there."
The Cowboys' struggling defense has put pressure on quarterback Tony Romo, who is 296-for-460 (64.3%) for 3,244 yards with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
"It feels like you've got to win out is what it feels like," Romo said per ESPN. "It's felt like that for a few weeks."
Two teams very much alive in their respective divisions take the field against each other when the Cowboys and Packers square off this afternoon.
