Fan declared the Golden State dynasty over after the Warriors endured a significant 52-point defeat against the Boston Celtics, with a final score of 140-88 in a highly anticipated rematch of the 2022 NBA Finals.
The lopsided game took place on Sunday, March 3, at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
Celtics star Jayson Tatum, who was celebrating his 26th birthday, scored 26 points on an efficient 9-of-13 shooting. Jaylen Brown added 29 points in a historic night for Boston, who set a franchise record for the largest halftime lead after being up 44 at the break, 82-38.
The Warriors, having secured victories in 12 of their last 15 games leading up to this matchup, appeared to be on an upward trajectory following a series of consistently strong performances.
However, their stars Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green combined for a measly 16 points, and all three did not see action in the second half.
Curry also failed to make a single three-pointer, going 0-of-9 from beyond the arc.
