Seton Hall Softball Player Raped? New Jersey Police Investigating Sexual Assault, Cell Phone [VIDEO]

New Jersey police are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a Seton Hall University female athlete where the incident was reportedly captured on cell phone video and freely disseminated to other students on campus for viewing.

According to NJ.com, the incident took place at an off-campus party where underage drinking was occurring in the early-morning hours of Nov. 16. South Orange Police Department Capt. Kyle Kroll told the website the alleged victim and softball player reported the assault to police shortly after she maintains it occurred and after she first went to school administrators.

"We informed the student of their rights and encouraged the student to go talk to police," university spokesperson Dan Kalmanson told NJ.com."We also notified authorities ourselves of the alleged incident."

Kroll later added South Orange police did not have a copy of the video, but have been led to believe the alleged perpetrator is not a Seton Hall student.

NJ.com reports the website has obtained a short clip that is purported to be of the incident. Shot in low light over about a 12 second span, the woman appears to be bent over as a man in a white T-shirt and cap stands behind her. Witnesses can also be heard laughing and cheering in the background.

NJ.com is withholding the name of the alleged victim because of the nature of the incident.
