The Los Angeles Lakers are set to compete against the Indiana Pacers in the championship match of the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament, scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 9, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The game will be broadcast on ABC and ESPN2, with a streaming option available on FuboTV. The game is set to tip off at 8:30 P.M. ET/5:30 PM PT.

Both teams have decent regular-season records this season, with the Lakers currently holding the fourth spot in the Western Conference with a 14-9 record. Meanwhile, the Pacers are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference with a 12-8 record.

The Lakers navigated through a good run in the group stage, facing off against the Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, Portland Trail Blazers, and Memphis Grizzlies.

Their journey continued with another victory over the Suns in the quarterfinals and the New Orleans Pelicans in the semifinals, ultimately leading them to the decisive championship game.

3 Reasons LA Can Win NBA In-Season Tournament

1. The Lakers have more experience.

The Lakers bring a wealth of experience to the court, particularly in high-stakes games, having completed a deep playoff run last season that saw them eliminate the then-defending champions Golden State Warriors and reach the Western Conference Finals, albeit getting swept by the eventual champions Denver Nuggets.

Aside from that, the Lakers have the most experienced player in the entire NBA right now, with LeBron James having 21 seasons under his belt.

Among the players in the upcoming game, Anthony Davis follows closely behind with 12 seasons of experience, marking the second-highest number of NBA seasons played behind James.

The purple-and-gold team is slightly older than the Pacers, boasting an average age of 26.1 compared to Indiana's 25.4.

2. The Lakers have superior star power.

The Lakers still possess one of the best duos in the NBA with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The consensus among many is that these two remain bona fide superstars, even though they are three years removed from their championship-winning campaign.

On the flip side, the Pacers boast a roster filled with emerging talent, with guard Tyrese Haliburton standing out as the sole player who has earned an NBA All-Star appearance, securing his first one only this year.

3. The Lakers are highly motivated to capture the NBA Cup.

The Lakers' star duo of James and Davis has been vocal about their strong motivation to secure victory in the first-ever NBA In-Season Tournament.

Their drive is fueled by the desire for glory and the substantial financial rewards at stake. Each player from the winning team is slated to receive a prize of $500,000.

Apart from their narrow triumphs against the Phoenix Suns in both the group stage and the quarterfinals, the Lakers have dominated every opponent in the tournament.

This includes a commanding 44-point victory over the New Orleans Pelicans in the semifinal.
