Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson was handed down a four-game suspension by the NFL for his repeated infractions of unnecessary roughness rules.

This comes after the veteran was ejected following his sideline hit on Packers rookie tight end Luke Musgrave during the fourth quarter of their game last Sunday, October 22.

Additionally, the 35-year-old will not receive pay for the games he will miss, resulting in a salary forfeiture of $558,889.

In a letter to Jackson, NFL Vice President of Football Operations Jon Runyan detailed that he delivered a forceful blow to a defenseless receiver's head and neck region despite having enough time and space to steer clear of such contact.

"You could have made contact with your opponent within the rules, yet you chose not to," Runayan added.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton has expressed his support for the 14-season veteran.

"I just know where he's at as a player. We'll keep working on that. I know he'll keep working on it. He's someone that's smart and really wants to do the right thing," Payton said.

Jackson is a repeat offender of roughness rules

Earlier this season, Jackson faced an ejection due to a roughness violation during a Week 2 loss against the Washington Commanders when he hit tight end Logan Thomas on September 17.

Additionally, Jackson received four fines this season for unnecessary roughness, totaling $89,670.

Jackson intends to appeal his suspension, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
