The Chicago Bears Justin Fields injury is telling, and the NFL team needs all the help they can get. They are set to face the Las Vegas Raiders next. But the question is: Is Justin Fields playing in Week 7?

In the latest update on Justin Fields' injury, the good news is that the 24-year-old quarterback will not require surgery for his injured thumb, per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

This is good news since it means Fields can still return for the Bears this season. However, Rapoport adds that seeing Justin Fields back in action will depend on how well he can grip the ball again.

"The key to when he can get back on the field is when he is able to grip the football," the NFL scribe stated.

Fields was forced to exit in their last game against the Minnesota Vikings after a Danielle Hunter sack. After heading to the locker room, the 11th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft never returned, ESPN reported.

Bears need to adjust play-calling

Despite the relieving news on Fields' injury, the next question is the timetable for his return. Bears head coach Matt Eberflus could not provide further updates, although he is not ruling out anything, USA Today reported.

Fields will likely miss several more weeks as he recovers from his thumb injury. So far this year, the former Ohio State Buckeye has 1,201 passing yards with 11 touchdowns and 6 interceptions across his name.

With Fields out, Eberflus will have to make do with Tyson Bagent at quarterback. The 23-year-old will make his first start for the Bears against the Raiders on Sunday, October 22.
