The Los Angeles Dodgers had another playoff exit amid a third 100-win season in-a-row and hefty World Series expectations.

The team suffered a humbling sweep at the hands of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League Division Series, culminating in a 4-2 defeat on Wednesday, October 11 at Chase Field in Phoenix.

Numerous Dodgers players, including star Mookie Betts, felt powerless in their inability to prevent the playoff disaster.

"I can't speak for all of us, but I know for sure I did absolutely nothing to help us win," the 31-year-old outfielder said.

First baseman Freddie Freeman put on an MVP-caliber regular season, but he admitted that their performance in the postseason was "not good."

Meanwhile, veteran Clayton Kershaw, who has faced retirement rumors throughout the season, shared the same disappointment as his younger teammates.

"Obviously, a horrible way to end it, personally, but that's ultimately not important. It's just how I didn't help the team win this series," the 35-year-old pitcher stated.

Massive turnaround from the regular season

The Dodgers previously dominated the D-backs in their last five regular-season matchups, outscoring them by 18 runs.

However, when it came to the National League Division Series, the Dodgers scored only two runs in each of the three games against their opponents.

"Yeah, the regular season, I think we do a great job. But the last couple of postseasons, it just hasn't gone well for us, and so I've got to figure it out," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confessed.
