Iowa Hawkeyes: Caitlin Clark Vocal on Pressure of Being the Face of Women's Basketball

In recent years, Iowa Hawkeyes point guard Caitlin Clark has emerged as a prominent figure in women's college basketball.

Her popularity has soared, establishing her as one of the most beloved college basketball players nationwide. Notably, a butter sculpture of Clark was prominently showcased at the Iowa State Fair.

The 2023 Associated Press Women's College Basketball Player of the Year seemed unfazed about her status.

"It's something that I welcome. I don't feel much pressure with that," the 21-year-old quipped.

The Iowa native is one of the most prominent stars in NCAA Division I, setting records for women's scoring and assists in a single tournament during the Hawkeyes' remarkable 2023 run, which saw them reach the championship game.

However, Iowa ultimately fell to LSU in the title game with a score of 102-85, which drew 9.9 million viewers across ABC and ESPN.

Caitlin Clark bags notable endorsement deal

The 2023 John R. Wooden Award holder has become State Farm's first-ever collegiate endorser, thanks to the recent adjustments in Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) regulations that permit student-athletes to engage in endorsement agreements and participate in commercial ventures.

"State Farm is a team that looks out for others, which is exactly the kind of legacy I want to leave beyond the basketball court. I'm honored to be the first college athlete to join the Good Neighbor team," Clark said.
