Nemanja Bjelica, a member of the Golden State Warriors that won the 2022 NBA title, is reportedly retiring due to injuries, according to a report by Sportando

It was a surprising development, considering Bjelica had just moved to Fenerbahce from Crvena Zvezda.

The news comes not long after it was announced that the Serbian player would miss the first games of Crvena Zvezda due to a calf injury.

Bjelica spent eight seasons in the NBA after entering the league in 2015.

As a rookie, the 6-foot-10 cager saw action for the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he stayed for three seasons. He moved to the Sacramento Kings in 2018, where he also spent three seasons.

It was with the Kings that he had his best showing in the NBA, particularly in the 2019 season. He averaged 11.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 72 games that season, per Basketball-Reference.

After that, he had a brief stint with the Miami Heat in 2020. He signed with the Golden State Warriors in 2021 as a free agent and had his share of good games that season, NBA.com reported.

Of all the accomplishments he had that year, it was being an NBA champion that stood out. By being a member of the Warriors 2022 NBA champion team, Bjelica became only the fourth Serbian to win an NBA title.

The other players who own that distinction are Darko Milicic, Peja Stojakovic, and Ognjen Kusmic, per Mozzart Sport.
