The long-awaited WNBA Finals showdown between the Las Vegas Aces and the New York Liberty became a reality last Sunday, October 8, when the two teams clashed in the opening game of the championship series at the Michelob ULTRA Arena.

Many fans and analysts already anticipated that the two powerhouses would be facing off for the WNBA title, but one unpredictable thing happened during the resounding 99-82 victory by the Aces in Game 1 of the best-of-five series.

Despite the presence of several stars on both sides, including A'ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, and Kelsey Plum for the Aces, as well as reigning WNBA MVP Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu on the Liberty, it was Aces shooting guard Jackie Young who emerged as the standout player of the game.

The former Notre Dame standout and the first overall pick of the 2019 WNBA Draft scored 26 points, making 9-of-15 shots and hitting 5-of-8 three-point attempts.

In addition to her scoring, Young contributed with 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals during an outstanding evening.
