Amid a challenging season for the Boston Red Sox, where the team currently sits in the last place in the American League East standings with a record of 76-82, team manager Alex Cora has confirmed his intentions for the 2024 MLB season.

The 47-year-old said on Wednesday, September 27, that he will be back with the team next year.

"I'm good. I'll be here next year," Cora stated confidently when questioned about his status with the Red Sox beyond the current season.

Nevertheless, Cora didn't reveal the specific role he would occupy or elaborate on the reasons for his assurance regarding his future.

The Red Sox suffered a 5-0 defeat to the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday. The loss pushed them 23 games behind the Baltimore Orioles, the first-place team in the American League East.

Alex Cora could be promoted

Following the dismissal of chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom and the reassignment of Brian O'Halloran from the general manager role to a senior leadership position, Cora has been rumored to be promoted to a different role.

The two-time World Series-winning manager has previously expressed an interest in potentially transitioning to a front-office role in the future, but his priority remains on managing the team.

"That's something that intrigues me. But it's something that right now - where I'm at, where we're at as a family - it's too soon to start talking about it," Cora said.

It has been reported that Cora has been more actively involved in player development this year than in previous seasons.
