Running back Ezekiel Elliott will be returning to Dallas for the first time since signing for the New England Patriots last month.

The 28-year-old spent the first seven seasons of his NFL career with the Cowboys, becoming a huge fan favorite in the city and making the Pro Bowl game three times in 2016, 2018, and 2019.

Coming into the game, Elliott admitted that he could get a bit emotional, but his main focus will be on the game.

"I mean, I don't have that much time to be too emotional. I've got to prepare for a game. I've got to go out put my best foot forward. I mean, there are emotions. I may do a good job of kind of hiding them but there will be some emotions," Elliott said.

Last season, Elliott had the least productive year of his career, rushing for a career-low 876 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns in 15 games.

In three games this season for New England so far, the 2016 First Team All-Pro has accumulated 122 rushing yards on 28 carries and has also caught six passes for an additional 21 receiving yards.

Jerry Jones gives hints on tribute

During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan on Wednesday, September 25, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked if there were any special plans to welcome Elliott back to Dallas.

"I don't want to blow a surprise, and that's a good enough answer for you," the 80-year-old businessman quipped.
