Inter Miami Injury Report: Will Lionel Messi Play vs Toronto FC?

Inter Miami star Lionel Messi missed the team's past two MLS games against Sporting KC and Atlanta United after participating in one of Argentina's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches during the international break over a week ago, and resting afterwards after due to "muscle fatigue."

The Fort Lauderdale-based club will have the Toronto FC next in the calendar on Wednesday at the DRV PNK Stadium.

Inter Miami's Lionel Messi Injury Status

The 36-year-old is projected to make a comeback either as a first-choice player or as a substitute during their clash against Toronto FC, according to ESPN Argentina.

Messi actively participated in the team's Tuesday's practice session, while Inter Miami manager Tata Martino refrained from confirming whether on Messi and Jordi Alba, who was also absent in the previous loss, would be included in the lineup against the Canadian team.

"We have a lot of important matches in a short window of time, and one of my responsibilities as the coach is to care for my players and help them make the hard decisions that will give us the best chance of keeping everyone healthy during this busy run," the Argentine tactician said.

Inter Miami recently leapfrogged Toronto FC in the MLS standings as they now sit 14th in the Eastern Conference after stringing a couple of wins in Messi's presence, while the latter club is the new team in the bottom of the conference.
