San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy's first game back from an elbow injury could not have gone any better after his team notched a dominant 30-7 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in their season opener on Sunday on the road at the Acrisure Stadium.

The 23-year-old went 19-of-29 for 220 yards, scoring two touchdowns in the rout.

Purdy also threw shade on Steelers cornerback Patrick Peterson in the post-game interview, after the latter made comments against the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft last week, talking about the predictability of San Francisco's offense.

"The second touchdown on the right side, the deep ball - was that on Patrick Peterson? Yeah, that one. I was there. That felt good," Purdy said.

The former Iowa State player added that he has nothing but respect for Peterson and everything that he does.

The eight-time Pro Bowl selection sparked discussion for some comments that he made last week, predicting that he would intercept one of Purdy's passes in the season opener during an episode of his All Things Covered podcast.

"There is some tell signs out there that tells us what plays we're gonna get from those guys in certain situations. When I get my pick Sunday, we'll talk about it," the 33-year-old said to co-host Bryant McFadden.

Peterson, who is a three-time First Team All-Pro member, joined the Steelers during the offseason.
