Ukrainian tennis star Elina Svitolina had a heartwarming moment during her second-round match in the US Open against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, held at the Louis Armstrong Stadium within the Flushing Meadows-Corona public park in Queens, New York, on Thursday, August 31.

During one of her changeovers in the match, Svitolina asked the umpire if her husband Gael Monfils' US Open match had started. She seemingly got the answer she wanted, walking back to the court inspired.

After dropping the first set, 5-7, the 28-year-old rallied back to claim the next two sets, 6-4 6-4, to advance to the next round of the Grand Slam major.

The former world number 3 spoke about the adorable moment after the match.

"I was just trying to get a little motivation from him. I know he's playing out there. I was just thinking about him a little bit," Svitolina said.

Monfils and Svitolina began their relationship in 2019, and the couple married in 2021. Their daughter, Skaï Monfils, was born in October 2022.

However, the Frenchman Monfils ended his run in the US Open after no. 8 seed Andrey Rublev proved too much for the 37-year-old, claiming a 6-4, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 victory on the same day.
