Undisputed welterweight champion Terence Crawford gave some friendly advice to his rival Errol Spence Jr. regarding his career in professional boxing.

The 35-year-old suggested to Spence that he should not hang up his gloves, but he does need a break from the sport to revitalize and get him back to the proper mindset.

"Well, I don't think he should retire. I think he should take a little time off, you know, get his mind right and, you know, get back in the gym and get back focused," Crawford told co-hosts DJ Envy and Charlamagne The God during a recent appearance on the radio show The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 FM.

The undefeated fighter also added that while he never took a loss at the professional level, he understands how a loss like the one Spence had could affect a fighter mentally, especially at a high level.

Crawford knocked down Spence thrice to claim a one-sided ninth-round technical knockout victory in their highly-anticipated fight at the end of last month.

Terence Crawford checked up on Errol Spence Jr.

Crawford checked up on his rival through a text message, asking how he was doing shortly after their fight, although the Omaha, Nebraska native refused to divulge details of the message.

"Like I told everybody, I don't hate Errol Spence. I'm a fan of Errol Spence. Like, you know, it was just business at the end of the day," Crawford added.

There was a significant turnout from fans in Omaha as Crawford held his victory parade in the city last Saturday.
