Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson talked about their infamous 2016 NBA Finals loss, wherein they became the first team to lose the league's championship series after being up 3-1.

In a recent appearance in Paul George's Podcast P show, the 33-year-old thought that they were invincible at home ahead of Game 7, noting that it took supernova performances from LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, as well as a Draymond Green suspension for them to win Game 5.

The Warriors also lost Game 6 in Cleveland, setting up a winner-take-all game at home. The Cavaliers narrowly took Game 7, 93-89, to complete the comeback and win their first-ever NBA Championship.

However, Thompson still saw the silver lining, saying they might not have gotten superstar Kevin Durant if they won the series. The lethal scorer led them to two more titles when he arrived that summer.

"I'm not going to admit when it was slipping away, there's too much pride to do that. It still hurts. You're welcome city of Cleveland," Thompson said.

Warriors' historic collapse

Coming off the greatest regular season in NBA history, going 73-9 and having the first-ever unanimous MVP in NBA history, Golden State looked like they were poised to win back-to-back titles after being one win away from the finish line.

Draymond Green recently stated in an appearance in the same podcast that he would have been the Finals MVP if they won Game 7.

Green had the game of his life, putting up 32 points, 15 rebounds, and 9 assists, shooting 11-15 from the field and 6-8 from the three in the loss.
